The Nintendo Switch has gained something of a reputation as the perfect go-to system for indie games. Judging by the latest Nintendo Indie World Showcase, that reputation is continuing to grow.

Among the big highlights from the December 10, 2019 showcase is the upcoming release of Sports Story, a sports-flavored mashup from the team behind Golf Story. Several hits from months and years past will be making their way to the Switch, including The Talos Principle Deluxe Edition as well as Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath. Finally, the stream closed out with a fresh reveal for Axiom Verge 2.

Sports Story

Sports Story is the sequel to the Switch-exclusive Golf Story, a golf-based RPG. The sequel includes tennis and other sports, hence the expanded title. Sports Story will be available in mid-2020.

Streets of Rage 4

Sega’s Streets of Rage 4 is a side-scrolling beat-em-up with colorful, comic-style graphics. Streets of Rage 4 launches in the “first half” of 2020.

Gleamlight

Gleamlight

Gleamlight is a wordless, Hollow Knight-like platformer where the player controls a red-clad swordsperson. It’s not entirely clear, but it appears the player can also turn into a sword. Gleamlight will be available in early 2020.

Bake ‘N Switch

Bake ‘n Switch channels Overcooked, challenging players to cook cooperatively in wacky, puzzle-filled environments. The game will be available in summer 2020.

Supermash

Supermash

Supermash is billed as “a game that makes games.” Players control a brother and sister in a video game shop who discover a mysterious console that allows them to combine two game genres, such as platformer and JRPG, to create new games. Supermash will be available in May 2020.

The Talos Principle Deluxe Edition

The 2014 puzzle game The Talos Principle is coming to Nintendo Switch later today. The first-person title stars a robot attempting to find a way out of technology-filled ancient ruins.

Sail Forth

In Sail Forth, players customize a wooden warship and engage in physics-based naval combat. Sail Forth will be available in 2020.

Dauntless

Phoenix Labs shared information on the new Dauntless content expansion, called Stormchasers. Nintendo Switch players will get free access to the exclusive Skyfighter armor and Skymetal weapon set cosmetic items at the expansion’s launch. Dauntless is available as a free download on the Nintendo Switch today.

Murder By Numbers

Murder By Numbers is a fresh new whodunit experience from the crew at Mediatonic featuring music from Phoenix Wright’s Masakazu Sugimori. The game will release first as a timed exclusive on the Nintendo Switch in the early part of 2020.

Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath

The classic Oddworld Inhabitants game Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath is making its way to Nintendo Switch. Originally launched as an Xbox exclusive in 2005, the Stranger’s odd adventure is landing on the Switch in January 2020. Best of all, players can pre-purchase the game starting today.

SkateBird

Fans of the classic Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater series will be immediately fond of SkateBird, a game that offers exactly what its title implies. Players can take control of an avian skate legend when SkateBird hits the Nintendo Switch in late 2020.

Liberated

Liberated is a new dystopian adventure from the team at Atomic Wolf. Blending comic-art styling with a monochromatic aesthetic, Liberated will launch as a Switch timed exclusive game in 2020.

Boyfriend Dungeon

Afterburner Studios’ Dreamscaper is a new take on 3D action titles with a focus on explosive combat, dungeon crawling, and puzzles. Featuring what the developers called an “expansive combat system,” players can expect Dreamscaper to land on the Nintendo Switch in early 2020.

The Survivalists

Crafting, base building, co-op action, and survival mechanics form the foundation of the new Team17 game The Survivalists. If the game looks more than a little like The Escapists, that’s because the two are set in the same universe. Watch for the launch of The Survivalists on Nintendo Switch in 2020.

Axiom Verge 2

A fresh reveal for Axiom Verge 2 served to close out the December 10, 2019 Nintendo Indie World Showcase. A brief teaser video was shown with plenty of pixel-art style plus weapons and gadgets galore. Fans can expect Axiom Verge 2 to release for the Nintendo Switch in fall 2020.
