The Witcher Season 3 Release Date: When and how to watch

What is The Witcher Season 3 release date? The Witcher Netflix show’s second season landed in 2021 and pointed toward some exciting and dangerous times ahead for Geralt (Henry Cavill) and Ciri (Freya Allan) as the show moves into the second novel Time of Contempt. So with the Wild Hunt on the hunt, when will The Witcher Season 3 come out and how can fans watch it?

What is The Witcher Season 3 release date?

The Witcher season 3 will release in summer 2023. This is a little earlier than originally expected. While season 2 was delayed thanks to complications due to the Covid-19 pandemic, both seasons of The Witcher have launched in December two years apart — Season 1 in December 2019 and Season 2 in December 2021. Netflix previously confirmed that Season 3 had been greenlit but has also said that centuries-earlier prequel series Blood Origin will drop in December 2022, so fans weren’t expecting The Witcher 3 until late 2023 — so summer is a welcome change.

How to watch The Witcher Season 3

The Witcher Season 3 will only be available to watch on Netflix worldwide, as the streaming service is entirely financing the series and is available in most countries. Like the previous seasons and spin-offs like Blood Origin and the Nightmare of the Wolf anime movie, this means that The Witcher Season 3 will not be available on any competing streaming services such as Disney Plus, Amazon Prime, Paramount Plus, or HBO Max.

Presumably, the third season will continue from where the second season concluded, with Ciri still being hunted by the likes of Nilfgaard but is currently under the protection of both Geralt and Yennefer, despite their own fraught relationship. The nightmarish Wild Hunt appeared in the finale and may return, and the season will mostly adapt the book Time of Contempt — which features a number of the series’ biggest action scenes and the introduction of the criminal gang known as The Rats. Worth watching out for.
