FlexiSpot Comhar Standing Desk EG8 Review: ‘Stylish and Functional’

FLEXISPOT COMHAR ALL-IN-ONE STANDING DESK EG8 REVIEW.

While this definitely isn’t my first FlexiSpot standing desk, the EG8 Comhar has been the one I’ve been most eager to get my hands on. This is because it combines many of the strongest FlexiSpot features like a crossbar for added stability, a simple yet effective control panel, a Safe Lock Button, and an anti-collision function, in addition to the new stylish glass desktop.

Simply does it

In recent years, FlexiSpot has worked to make the assembly of its desks simpler. The EG8 can be put together in just a few steps: with the tabletop lying flat on the ground you attach the desk frame, followed by the desk feet, before finally plugging in the power cord.

It should take 20-30 minutes for newcomers to get the desk built and it can be done alone. However, I would grab someone for the big final effort to put the table the right way up, as it is assembled upside down.

Smart standing desk

Once it’s standing correctly and plugged in, it’s then time to play with the control panel. The EG8 control panel has four programmable height presets, which are useful for multiple sitting and standing positions for more than one user. With a height range between 72-121 cm, taller folks are catered for.

I mentioned it in the intro, but the anti-collision detection deserves a second shout-out here. Earlier standing desk models couldn’t sense whether they were about to crush something, and I suffered a busted PC case because of it! Though I’d still monitor your desk when it’s rising and falling, in case of a snagged cable or something, it’s nice to know that it shouldn’t destroy anything stuck underneath.

Style and function

Of course, the standing desk functions aren’t unique to the EG8. No, it’s the embedded drawer and glass desk top that make this product stand out.

The drawer is ideal for office supplies like pens and notebooks. However, I couldn’t fit my keyboard or mouse in there, so don’t overestimate the amount of space.

The glass top looks great out of the box, but it’s going to take some effort to keep it clean. This is especially true of the black version, which quickly attracts fingerprints. Again, it’s gorgeous to look at, but it isn’t as practical as the standard wooden surfaces.

Bear this in mind

The biggest flaw in the EG8’s design, which is admittedly to be expected when buying a glass-covered desk, is the inability to use any kind of desk-mounted monitor, camera, or microphone arms. Instead, they will have to remain on their stands or, though it will be a tricky combination with the standing function, mounted to the walls.

Cable management is also a little trickier, as there are no cutouts through the desk. That means monitor peripheral cables have to trail down the back, which adds a little challenge to maintaining the clean aesthetic.

FlexiSpot Comhar Standing Desk EG8 Review: The final verdict

At $499.99 RRP (though currently discounted to $419.99), the FlexiSpot EG8 Comhar standing desk might not be as wallet-friendly as cheaper solutions, but its combination of premium features could be worth it to those on the hunt for a sleek, yet functional, desk.

It’s also worth mentioning that, at the time of writing, a large FlexiSpot sale is about to kick off. Flash Sale products include the E7 standing desk, the Comhar Bamboo standing desk, and Kana Bamboo standing desk. While FlexiSpot regularly hosts sales that offer significant discounts, this “Anniversary Sale” has some of the best discounts yet, particularly for the Comhar Bamboo.
